Privacy Policy — Tic Tac Toe

Short version

Tic Tac Toe does not collect, store, or share any personal data. All game progress, settings, and statistics live only on your device. The app does not use analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking. The only network interaction is the Google Play Games sign-in the app attempts when it starts; if that sign-in does not complete, no game data leaves your device and everything keeps working offline.

What data is stored on your device

The app stores the following values locally in Android SharedPreferences (private to the app, never transmitted off-device):

Player 1 and Player 2 names and a default avatar emoji stored alongside them (the avatar shown in the app is a monogram derived from the name; no photo, image, or uploaded avatar is ever stored)
Settings: theme preference, sound enabled, haptic feedback enabled, turn timer duration, game mode, AI difficulty, first-move rule, and match format (best-of-3/5/7 or endless)
Game statistics: games played, wins, losses, draws, best win streak, current streak, fastest win time, per-mode win/loss counts (vs AI and local 2P), wins per AI difficulty, and whether the in-app rate-prompt has been dismissed

You can erase all data at any time. Two separate actions in Settings → Data cover different categories:

Reset Statistics — erases your game history (wins, losses, draws, streaks, fastest-win time, rate-prompt state).
Restore Defaults — erases your settings (player names, avatar emoji, theme, sound, haptic, timer, game mode, AI difficulty, first-move rule, match format).

To erase everything in one step, uninstall the app. After reinstalling, all stored values return to factory defaults.

Google Play Games Services

The app connects to Google Play Games Services so you can compare high scores and unlock achievements. It attempts a silent sign-in when the app launches. The app has no sign-in screen of its own — Play Games handles authentication — and if no Play Games account is available on the device the attempt fails quietly. Play Games receives your sign-in token and the score/achievement data the app submits on your behalf; Google processes that data under Google's own privacy policy.

Separately, after three wins the app may offer an in-app rating prompt via Google Play's in_app_review API — this prompt is local to the device and does not transmit any new personal data.

If the sign-in does not complete, no game data is sent to Google or to any other server by Tic Tac Toe.

Permissions

The Android build declares the following manifest permissions, used only as listed below:

INTERNET — used only for the Google Play Games sign-in attempt and for syncing scores and achievements while signed in; not used for anything else.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — used by Google Play Games Services to check connectivity when initiating sign-in.

The app does not request the following sensitive permissions: location, contacts, microphone, camera, calendar, storage, SMS, or phone state.

Children's privacy (COPPA / GDPR-K)

Tic Tac Toe is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because no personal data is collected at all, the app is compliant with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent regulations in other jurisdictions by default.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA / equivalents)

Where applicable law grants you rights over personal data, the following apply:

Access & portability — all data the app holds is on your device and can be reviewed from Settings → Data and the Statistics screen.
Erasure — you can delete any category of locally stored data via Settings → Data: Reset Statistics clears game history, Restore Defaults clears settings. To erase everything in one step, uninstall the app.
Objection / restriction — if you are signed in to Google Play Games Services, you may object to or restrict the processing of your Play Games data through your Google account settings.

Since the app does not run a server and does not transmit any personal data, there is no data of yours to amend at the developer's side.

Third-party links and assets

The app is fully self-contained. It does not embed web pages, load remote scripts, or display third-party advertising. The sound assets are bundled in the app package. A local rating prompt may be offered after three wins via Google Play's in-app review API.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be reflected by a new "Effective date" at the top of this page and, where required by applicable law, a notice in the app.
